Béton Armé – Chamber music by Iannis Xenakis

Interpreted by Duo 7090 Nora Mulder (piano) & Bas Wiegers (violin) and guest musicians Koen Kaptijn (trombone), Saatje Van Camp (cello) and Gijs Kramers (viola).

Xenakis was a music composer, but also an architect, a mathematician and an engineer who even experimented with laser and light designs.

An armed concrete «cell» was the starting graphic point for the Xenakis-inspired structures, while other graphic elements took inspiration from his laser designs or cascade-like music score compositions.

I also hand-made a special limited edition jewel box concieved by industrial designer Vincent de Rijk in his Rotterdam workshop.
